Halal, vegetarian food and prayer: planning your day

Find suitable meals and facilities by asking precise questions before you visit.

01

Describe what you need

Vegetarian, vegan, egg-free and halal are different requirements. Specify the ingredients you avoid, including meat stocks, gelatine or alcohol if relevant. If you have an allergy, tell the venue separately and ask about preparation and cross-contact; a dietary label alone cannot establish suitability.

02

Check the individual restaurant

Ask which dishes meet your needs and how they are prepared. Do not assume that every branch or every item has the same status. Dishoom’s official FAQs discuss dietary and halal questions; use these as a starting point and confirm your exact order with the restaurant.

03

Allow time for prayer

For London, the London Central Mosque & Islamic Cultural Centre publishes official visitor and religious-service information. Check current prayer times, access and facilities directly. Ask your hotel or attraction about any prayer space before relying on it, and build travel time into your day.

Before you book

Confirm food and facilities with each venue for your date. These links provide information, not independent halal certification or a guarantee of allergen-free preparation.
