Follow Downton Abbey, Harry Potter, Outlander, Bridgerton and Game of Thrones to real places. Some are working estates or seasonal attractions: filming fame does not mean unrestricted access.

England · Highclere Castle, Hampshire, England
Step inside the real Downton Abbey
Seasonal access
Highclere is both a family home and Downton Abbey's screen setting. Its rooms, gardens and Egyptian exhibition offer a visit beyond the television story.
Before you go
Pre-book the exact visit: general admission runs around Easter and summer, with themed tours on other dates. Check whether your ticket includes the Egyptian exhibition.
Getting there
Train from London Paddington to Newbury, then roughly 15 minutes by taxi. Book your return taxi in advance.
England · Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, Leavesden, England
Discover the making of Harry Potter
Explore Harry Potter sets, props, costumes and filmmaking craft at the Studio Tour in Leavesden. This is outside central London, so build transport into your day.
Before you go
Book a dated entry slot and check current opening hours. Compare ticket-only and ticket-with-transfer packages carefully: transport alone does not include Studio Tour admission.
Getting there
Train from London Euston to Watford Junction, then the roughly 15-minute Studio Tour shuttle, included with your entry ticket.
Alnwick's courtyards appeared in the first two Harry Potter films, including Harry's first flying lesson. The castle also served as a Downton Abbey filming location.
Before you go
Normal admission for 2026 ended on 20 October. The official site says reopening in March 2027. Check the new calendar; festive events are separate visits.
Getting there
Train to Alnmouth, then taxi or local bus for the roughly four miles to Alnwick. Follow official parking directions if driving.
Doune became Castle Leoch in Outlander, appeared in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and played Winterfell in the Game of Thrones pilot.
Before you go
Book admission and check seasonal opening and access restrictions. The audio guide features Sam Heughan and Terry Jones. Consult the access guide for historic stairs and uneven ground.
Getting there
Castle parking is very limited. Use public transport or the Draggie Burn Park & Stride, about a 20-minute walk away.
Midhope's approach, courtyard and steps will be familiar to Outlander fans. This is an outdoor filming-location visit on a working estate, not a furnished castle tour.
Before you go
Buy a ticket and check closure dates. The interior is derelict and inaccessible. Farming, filming or estate events can restrict access; Hopetoun House admission does not automatically include Midhope.
Getting there
No direct public transport. Use your own transport or a tour including Midhope; ask a taxi driver to wait for your return.
Bath's Georgian streets became Regency London: the Royal Crescent for the Featheringtons, the Holburne Museum for Lady Danbury, and Abbey Green for the Modiste.
Before you go
Explore exterior locations independently or book a guided walk. Museum and café admission is separate. Respect residents; a filmed façade does not guarantee access to its interior.
Getting there
Train to Bath Spa, including direct services from London Paddington. Continue on foot or local transport; the Royal Crescent involves an uphill walk.
Ranger's House supplied the Bridgerton family's red-brick exterior. Its real interior houses the Wernher art collection, not a recreation of the television family's rooms.
Before you go
The official page currently says select 2027 opening dates will be released soon. Confirm interior access before travelling; the published notice says the interior chairlift is out of service.
Getting there
Blackheath station is about three-quarters of a mile away. Buses 53 and 386 also serve the area; nearby parking is limited.
Northern Ireland · Game of Thrones Studio Tour, Banbridge, Northern Ireland
Enter Westeros at its Northern Ireland studios
Banbridge's Linen Mill Studios were a Game of Thrones production base. The official Studio Tour offers a different experience from outdoor filming-location coach trips.
Before you go
Choose dated Studio Tour tickets or an expressly inclusive transport package. Check opening and access guidance. A Belfast sightseeing tour does not automatically include admission here.
Getting there
Follow official directions to Ballievey Road, Banbridge. Free on-site parking is now advertised. For coach packages, confirm departure and return arrangements.
Portmeirion's colourful Italianate buildings became the Village in The Prisoner. This Welsh coastal setting offers gardens, day visits and overnight rooms or cottages.
Before you go
Day entry is ticketed; book accommodation separately. No day visits on 25–26 December 2026. Christmas Fair preparations may affect views from 23 November to 11 December.
Getting there
Minffordd station is about one-and-a-half miles away. Arrange onward transport; overnight guests can ask about station collection, subject to confirmation.
